"Love knows no bounds"

Of all the songs I've been known to sing,
one, and only one, binds the heart
unlike any other.  Whether I'm running red,
or sinking blue, drunk or drop dead sober--
you've probably heard me sing it
until you wished I'd keel right over.

But even then, if you're passing by

put an ear to the ground, and you'll hear
me singing still, that one perfect song.

I didn't take this literally but rather as a metaphor. It struck me that the music of the earth affects me so. If I listen closely you can hear that one perfect song

you are not wrong Soren. A poet writes, a reader takes what they find. A metaphor for life/love certainly works and is flattering to me the poet.

But (shh) the one who this was written for has extremely well tuned ears. :)

thanks for the review Katrina. Think we've all had a few of those, but in the case of this sweet poem it's for my dear wife who is indeed a song...as the Titles hints at. she doesn't use the hyphen

Hi Ken , really liked your poem
Everyone has a favourite song , and after a few drinks a person may come out and sing it
I remember going on a pub outing , everyone taking turns to sing their favourite song
Then most of the people on the coach joined in on the chorus

thank you so much. I liked how they flowed out of my pen. The inspiration for the poem prefers the sentiment that I'll be singing it even when I'm dead, and some days I get the feeling she's hoping that might be sooner than I expect LOL
