Regrets, I Have a Few

Regrets, I Have a Few

A Poem by Ken e Bujold
"

a bit of whimsey

"
I've harbored many regrets for choices
I've made: in haste or
from slothful indifference to
hard work;

kept myself awake at night
ruminating what might I--
if only my priorities
had been properly attuned?

A cardiologist (despised biology)
or lawyer (four years to master
how to argue?) Maybe
a plumber (as if).

Truth be told, I've never cared
that much for money,
it's never worth the worry.
If my belly's full I'm fine.

I would have liked to learn another language,
pleasure of wrapping my tongue
around someone else's vowels;
that's a skill definitely worth something.

Like tonight, sleepless in Yu'biusk
I might have followed the squabble
of those drunken philosophers--
if only I knew how to speak bloody Goblin!

my habits are habits of purpose ... a first read of your offerings from before present day write gives me insight(s) an identification of your pens voyage
it is art and earns better notice of its origins

had to look up Yu'biusk ... 2 points for you because i learned something

i like this train of thought
i understand a 'slothful indifference to hard work;' but most often choose the more challenging direction cause i already know what i can do
$$$ is kool but isn't the end all (my mother told me she was thinking of leaving her estate to me because i was the only child of hers that didn't pursue the almighty dollar ... didn't happen but was a grand gesture none the less)

thought proving write ... i will be back for more
thanks

Wrapping your tongue around someone’s vowels sounds like a pleasuring activity. If that’s not a metaphor, I’m making it one. Nice.

I feel our philosophies may be quite similar… ( I do know a few words in Welsh though, not many!)

You have pretty much written my life's story. Languages fascinate me-I love to listen to Spanish spoken, but trying to learn a language-impossible! Money is that which pays bills. Content to be content.

If Bandos had not brought Yu'biusk to Gielinor it would not have been possible to learn and enjoy. I like how this is the counterpoint to the very everyday reality of the first four stanzas. That is an awesome shift and flourish. Thanks for sharing.
