A Poem by Kendallbass

I know this place... I’ve been here before. Have I strayed too far from the path or did it find its way back to me? I feel a sudden shift in consciousness, and my eyes remain locked in place as I witness two planes of existence merging together to form a single entity. I should have known this would happen once the edges of my reality began to blur and smear like water splashing on paper. An illusion loses its substance once you become so immersed in it that you’re no longer building from new experiences. Matter melts into nothing like wax dripping down a candle as I watch the past and future bleed into the present. Finally, all that’s left is myself and the world I’ve been avoiding for so long.

Tension clings to me like glue, and I don’t even struggle as I watch it expand and entwine around my skin. I’m curious of how long I’ve been standing here while my mind was lost in a false reality. The thought is enough to take me away again as I reminisce of how it felt to be safe, even if it was only within the depths of my mind. An icy breeze sends a chill up my spine, jolting me back to the present as I watch my memories fade into the void where they came from. It’s strange how people seem to think that clarity brings purity, but existence is much more sinister from behind the veil. This world is full of contradictions, where the air feels sharp and light weaves through the darkness like a braid. It’s a cold place where simplicity is born from complexity and the emptiness is suffocating. I look down at the web that continues to consume me, and I can’t help but wonder why the sun only shines when it has something to hide behind.
