Spring begins in April

Spring begins in April

A Poem by Ken Simm.

Spring begins in April.

We praise the new science of Smell

The smell of the sea, of rot and disintegration,

Of paper, of books,

Of buds bursting, the smell of woodsmoke.

The artist prepares to reprise the age-old preoccupation with sight.

The bird lays bright blue offspring, matching the sky.

Vegetation spreads symmetrical roots,

One white and blind, one green and sweet.

Very interesting look at spring!
All the new smells of spring that so many ignore.
I like the vegetation spreads symmetrical roots,
one white and blind, one green and sweet.
Good job.

Ken,

A beautifully constructed analyses of that month which is the beginning of Spring ... I enjoyed each and every line, but my favorite overall is the last line: "One white and blind, one green and sweet."

Thank you for trwling through some old ones Marvin.
The smell of the sea, of rot and disintegration,
Of paper, of books,
Of buds bursting, the smell of woodsmoke.

I've always looked forward to that first smell of grass being cut. Nothing like it. It truly is a time of rebirth, which you've captured here so well, Ken.

You're one of the gems here at the WC, Ken!
This is a fascinating journey that reminds me of the journal entry pages with the loose connections among all the various thoughts.

Poetry need not be of epic length to have an epic impact on the senses. I like it.

A purposely silent spring; highlighting only The Renewal's many sights and smells.
These stark views and peculiar odors nicely serve as this Season's Greetings.
Great bit of work, Ken!
