Field Mouse Ear Chick Weed.

Field Mouse Ear Chick Weed.

A Poem by Ken Simm.
"

Lazy Days

"

Chew that piece of grass

lay back and make it last

the lark ascending voice

trills certain in its Summer choice

Lazy deep seasons heat,

winged peace sleep complete

flower singing buzzing meadow

down sifting breezing shallow

soft liquid drinking made

willow blue wafting shade

pool clear fly trail

sky shine wind sail

bridge soft breeze melt

fruit times shade felt

sound singing green reed

field mouse ear chick weed

The first lines of this make me think of the spring of youth and the summer holidays, when the sun always shone and six weeks was a vast time. Then I read it a second time and thought, hmm, the second part is noticably more economic and poetic than the first four lines with words like 'that/and/the/in its'. I was almost looking up at the clover leaves as I sank into the summer meadow mood.

Spring has sprung, I think. This makes me long to be outdors with daisies and dandelions and honeysuckle.

The imagery here is absolutely stunning! As, of course, only you can do. 100 daisies.

Nice visual snapshot piece, has the perfectly languid summertime pacing. As I'm sure I've said before inone manner or another, it's always nice to see a first-class mind come out and play.

this goes with a big checkered blanket, picnic basket and lemonade... you can almost smell the heat in the breeze....definitely some sunglasses and for you, a big straw hat!
