Completing his partial mind.

Completing his partial mind.

A Poem by Ken Simm.
"

The world only exists when it is observed. A love song.

"

Rising higher to clouds

he completes his partial mind

Beyond what he is trying to comprehend

A mountain is too small to reach

Into his thoughts

He is a man climbing with

A watching principle of uncertainty

And the light falling on here

Does not exist until it is observed

By him, the artist

The old light of this stars history

Was created only when the thought came

Brilliant in its rare golden far away mystery

Deep in the blue on curtain blue

Changing and following only the observed pathways

He created

Fired at both parts of the smallest screen

Through his mankind mind.

Humming of his love as he climbs

A string orchestra in its parts

In his glorious process

The clear air singing the various lives

Of his blood

Of the existence he created

Following only his time ink line drawn

And conspiring his sight against nature

The world he created only by observing

Smiling at the lack of ambient sound around him

because there is nothing to receive it

other than the Gaelic love song

he hears

travelling through his mind

he is deaf to them all

and so sounds do not exist

on this his created mountain

and for one golden moment

he is the god

of high and wonderful places

of rocks and roaring falls

of single rock rooted magic trees

of deer scud flashing away

of a single eagle black winged

and the hair bound away from her eyes

as she appears from behind his rock created visions

and smiles

Something drops from eyes long blind

He completes his partial mind

for an instant stands at ease

laughs aloud, his heart at peace.

W.B.Yeats.

Author's Note

Ken Simm.
The title and quotation is from one of Yeats last poems, Under Ben Bulben. It is the Participatory Anthropic Principle that states that an element only exists and has only ever existed when observed by a concious being.Heisenberg's uncertainty principle tells us that it is impossible to simultaneously measure the position and momentum of a particle with infinite precision. In our everyday lives we virtually never come up against this limit, hence why it seems peculiar. An air tree with roots off the ground was usually seen as magic.
The photograph is mine and called The Old Cobbler.

Ken,your ability to remove your consciousness to another place without phsychodelia and to still elucidate and articulate it poetically is rare. You translate all your images into such an insight into your artists eye, it makes me want to get the watercolours out again!! Great stuff, man. P.

To use a strangers poem
and create one of your own,
is like stealing flowers
from your neighbor's garden.
Placing them on your table,
among all the shiny knifes
and clean linens, it is
a tower of shame and guilt.

Sorry, I dislike that you ran with the idea of a poet such as Yeats. Nevertheless, it is exceptionally well written. So, I felt compelled to leave a review.

yes and what shade i suppose as we all see things differently...
Classic and with a brilliant crescendo. Towards the end the line with the tree made me think of the movie the fountain.

Damn mate, the poem and photo are awesome. I learned a bit along the way too. Love the quote and uncertainty principle. I think we were of like minds on our latest pieces, although mine more enigmatic and wordy as I tend to do, yours was beautiful and captured some great imagery with nature and humanity and the struggle of where we fit in or make room for it in our all too consuming states of being. Much to be learned from a trip into the hills. Even my little wanderings around the wooded lake today has afforded me some clarity and peace. Well done Ken, well done.

This is when the epiphany of the mind awakens and the imagination soars like an eagle finishing the masterpiece that the mind had previously left vacant. Nicely penned Ken and a beautiful photo to compliment the poem....Rose:)

And I agree.
High and wonderful places - echoed in a palette of vibrant effervescent words. There is something about this piece that made me stop - take a breath and look up at the sky.

Your poetry is always so intense I need to read it a few times, in my simplistic mind I thought of "if a tree falls in the forest"....just a wonderful read all around.
