Erased writings

A Poem by Kell-Bell
"

A writer realizes he forgot to save just as his computer crashes.

"
That's it!
I'm done!
Done with this infernal box of wires and code!
I've sat here for an afternoon,
Delicately practicing my craft.
How am I repaid for my work?
By having it all erased!
Spending hours in front of this blasted screen,
Filling this blank space with my heart and soul,
Doing meticulous work to make this writing perfect,
It's all gone with one accidental click.
What will become of my Magnum Opus?
My masterpiece?
My claim to fame?

While I am frustrated,
Blaming the computer will do nothing for me.
I am young, and summer break has given me abundant time to think.
It isn't the end of the world to lose a poem or two.
Maybe taking a walk will clear my head.
Lady Luck might even inspire me.
As the greats once said.
“Ad astra per aspera.”

Through adversity to the stars

The style is accessible and evocative and tells the story well. The accident seems unfortunate, but events may in the long run prove it to have been fortunate. Youth is indeed impatient, and the learning of patience is one of life's great rewards.
