Love Lit LanternA Poem by Kelsey O'Connellopen for interpretationA smoldering flame to outshine the rest. The embers so warm, they burned through her chest.
Set loose among the stars to light the night sky, Lust and avidity like flames in her eyes.
A simple touch makes her feel more alive, As fire among air, she needs him to survive.
A tenacious passion illuminates her days, She is blinded by greed; stuck in a somber haze.
She's taken for granted the luminous light, Her love and her lantern did once provide.
An empty shell she tries to mend. Torridness grows weak with time she spends.
The radiant lantern now in the past, A brilliant love that would never last. © 2013 Kelsey O'ConnellReviews
