Jail Sentence

Jail Sentence

A Poem by Kelly A.
"

Was written about my ex

"

Trapped and forced to open up

With no where to go except into my prison

You say you want to be my parole

Yet when I go on trial and try to testify

You end up becoming the persecutor

Shutting me up whenever I speak,

Oblivious that I’m up there for you

As you question the words

I start to wonder and become nervous under your crushing pressure

I’m lost in my mind wondering

Why change your mind when I did this for you

As the judge grows weary

And the bantering goes back and forth

I let you win

I surrender yet confusingly you suddenly become the defense
