What is poetry?
Its the lyrics of your heart,
The very words that build you up,
Knock you down,
Its the story that you tell within your bones,
Its the memories you express through spirit,
It can make you smile,
It can seek its way into your veins,
Find out your secrets,
It can comfort you when you're lost,
Bring the light into your eyes,
Poetry can make you relate to the past,
Maybe clear the image of a future,
But poetry is not just a word,
It is not just a simple form of writing,
It is not simple made up rhymes at the end of phrases,
Poetry is how you express yourself,
Its how you show your love,
How you build up your pride,
Its the ability to inspire others with your words,
Show your power,
Prove to the world you are strong,
Even in your weakest moments,
A poem is the seal that keeps you together,
When you feel you're falling apart,
A poem is not just a habit,
Poetry becomes a part of you,
A poem is always with you,
You just have to make it yours!

Poetry? Impressive. Most of the lines are my favorites, few of `em are as follow:-

Ever since we`ve dreamed to be the "Novelist" .. Poetry comes first in the world but yea.. the words always knock us down because "Words" don`t know where they gonna get written ... in poems... or in novels. I loved the beautiful imagery!!

I'm surprised reading this poem indeed, no matter what. Yes, your right, poetry's not just a word but it's what how we expressed ourselves through words. What a lovely line. This poem makes me speechless ..like what to type into the review because it's so amazing and believe me I really don't have words to praise the beauty ..the aromas of this beautiful poem...but yeah, i'd love say that it's the one piece i've ever read over this site. Yes, poetry is all that and more. Psychologically speaking, poetry is a method for expanding neurological threads throughout all parts of the human brain so we’re better able to function at other tasks such as advanced mathematical and scientific analysis or complex international social relationships. It's an IQ builder because it involve all parts of the human brain simultaneously. Research scientist have recently discovered that our brains continue to grow as they sprout new neurological connections all through our lives; but the brain must be stimulated to do so. Poetry is Psychology. Poetry is a useful psychological tool. When it comes to the brain: Either we use it or lose it. Push it to its limit, and beyond.

You're welcome! Your IQ should continue to increase as long as you don't get lazy and stop thinking, and creating. It will decrease if you just watch television all the time letting others do your thinking for you.. Keep yourself sharp!

You're absolutely right! I'm in band and I'm very much involved so once I discovered my writing journal was full and I had become too busy to keep up with one I researched good writing sites and came upon this site! I've loved it ever since!

I'm glad that you understand this. The brain sprouts new threads as it attempts new things thus increasing the its IQ. It's best to do things that take advantage of both sides of the brain at the same time. Classical Poetry does this. Sometimes computer programming does, but not as well. This is the primary value of a Liberal Arts Education.

When someone tries to write the most efficient and effective code for a computer, he drives his brain functions to and beyond their limit. In this way, his brain is stimulated to grow new neural connections and pathways that help him to get over that limit, thus increasing his IQ. You must drive your brain to its limit and keep it there in the long term. Classical Poetry does the same thing. I’ve done some impossible things with poetry and computers. Also, be sure to sleep when you’re tired because the brain likes to grow while you sleep. Follow a good diet, and exercise too.
