Your poem describes the trajectory of my life. After my childhood experience of predatory treatment, I went out into the world with predatory intent myself, thinking this was how everyone related to others (added to the influence of the long-ago "age of free love"). It was all about catching the thrill of the moment, more than connecting with someone else's humanity. In your poem, the narrator sounds a little bit preachy, as if it's easy to turn one's life around, so why not do it? Well, I'm here to say that it takes years to undo bad early conditioning, no matter how earnestly one might wish for a new approach to life! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This read like a rap poem .. was that the intention? I thought it was very effective, and certainly made me sit up and listen. And I hope it made the 'you' listen too! But there is so much hope in the last verse, and I love the last three lines ...Reach For your
Dreams.

True that. Although I suppose there must be a sense of euphoria for the liars to keep on lying and getting away with it, maybe like a drug.
Powerful words here.

Thankyou and yes it’s a form of addiction I guess🌹
dear Kelly... saving souls is a passion...
reminds me of the old movie “Angel and the
Bad Man” starring John Wayne when he was younger. In the movie he was an orphan and raised by Outlaws. When he was running from the law, and got shot, a Quaker family took him in. A most beautiful spiritual movie... so much like your poetry. truly, Pat

Lot's of conviction in this piece, masterfully written!!! My favorite line was
Until you reach
The peak of
Destruction-
You won’t listen
To instruction- How this statement is true for a lot of us, we sometimes wait till things reach the boiling point to turn off the flame ... excellent job!!
