‘Blackened Skies’

At Calvery
Where you died
To set us free
Oh Calvery -
For you and me

You shed blood stained
Tears-
Carried tormenting
Fears-
The thorns they
Pierced
Tearing open
Innocent flesh-
Part of the test
Of flesh
Or faith
It could not wait-

‘Let this cup pass me by’-
That was your cry-
‘ If it’s your will ‘-
Words sent to kill

Lost within the depths
Of sleep -
The watchers
Their words
Did not keep-

They came at dawn-
Made you their pawn

Unto the heavens
You were drawn-

The metal pieces
The flesh ripped
Deep -
And the tender words
That you did
Speak -
‘It is done’-
Rebirth for some
But upon that cross
You were hung-

The sky’s in darkness
Sadness rang-
Your spirit was given
Up to heaven-
Leaving us a
Lonesome
Lesson-

The sky’s turned black
The veil prevailed
And each drop
Of precious blood
Entailed

Us to mercy
Grace and
Kindness-
Sin had lost
It’s sting-
Forever glory
We will sing-

Holy holy
Is the lamb
Almighty-
Ransomed life
Oh pure delight-

The grave stands
Alone -
The light
Shines bright-

He lives -

To set us free-
Oh bend your knee-

All worship thee-

Holy one of three...

Well, like Paul, I am not a man of religion or a fan of religion, but your words here ring true on this very weekend.

For in his sacrifice, Jesus showed us the way to salvation and his lessons still abound to this day. Religious or not, there was wisdom in his life and words that all should heed.

A wonderful tribute, well written and timely on this special day. Well Done.
