Lost and FoundA Poem by kellycweeks
Living in a life of regret, haunted by ghosts of the past
He thinks everything he touches will die, nothing can surely last. His heart is trampled as people walk through his life, in and then out He is left to fight his demons alone, his cold eyes filled with doubt. He's his worst critic, he questions his time and place on Earth Never seeing his potential, his value, his worth. His tears paint a story of the years that have passed him by A tale of pain and sorrow, his bleeding soul cries. A wall is built up to guard his weeping core Nobody gets in, he will live alone in darkness forever more. His screams go unheard, though he is dying to escape He loses sight of himself, his heart loses its beat and shape. There stands a girl, desperately trying to chip the prison walls away To show him there's a sign of hope, show him she's here to stay. She would trek to Hell and back to save his torn soul Gather the shattered pieces, and put them back to whole. For she would do anything to wash away his endless strife Cleanse him of his heartaches, and bring him back to life. And even in his darkest hours, she could never leave She sees beyond his flaws, in him she deeply believes. But with everything he sees, he expects its demise, it's end "Happily Ever After" is something he cannot comprehend. Perfection or failure, there is nothing in between So bruised, broken, and battered from all he has seen. He takes himself down the path of destruction, time and time again The minutes are fleeting, but he's stuck in the same slump he's been. So scared of a life without suffering, for it's all he's ever known Happiness is on the horizon, but he can't seem to make it his own. She can't exactly remember the time or the place She fell in love with the lines of his body or the curves of his face. But she knew from the beginning it was fateful for them to meet And she knew if he ever fell, she'd be there to help him to his feet. He needed her then, but little did he know, she needed him too He filled this void inside of her, showed her something true. In his safe embrace is where she wants to stay But like everyone else close to him, he pushes her away. She catches his eyelash and gently blows it from her finger She simply wishes that this moment with him could linger. Arms and legs intertwined, together they lay as one In the wee hours of the morning, she wishes she could turn off the sun. For in his deepest slumber, he is free of all his fears She can be with him in blissful silence, the world just disappears. She hopes he'll awake to find himself, the person he lost long ago To open his eyes and see all the gifts he has are more beautiful than he could ever know. Love is not an illusion, it is alive, invigorating and real If he could let the light peer through the cracks, his numbness could finally feel. In the midst of the chaotic storm, there is a calm that awaits He has the fight left in him to get through to the gates. That is where he will see the beauty that surrounds To appreciate what he's lost and cherish what he has found. If he ever stumbles and seems to lose his way Her hand will always be within reach when the rest of the world goes astray. One day he'll see this girl that loved him so deep and pure, One day he'll finally see it, yeah he'll finally see her... © 2015 kellycweeksReviews
