Shiver

Shiver

A Poem by kellycweeks

Uncertainty flickers like dying embers in the night,
While her skeptic eyes see a glimmer of hope in the unknown.
The ticking of the clock is laughable, seemingly mocking her fractured spirits.
There is no denying the sweetness of solitude
And the utter coldness that burns through her very core.
The restless wheels of the universe spin hastily,
Only to come to a screeching halt and look her dead in the face.
All signs point ostensibly to nowhere as the chill in the air becomes hard to swallow.
Two beats that had ignited as one hurriedly lose their syncing rhythm
As the first frost blankets what could have been.
The encapsulated heat of the moment still lingers inside her,
Trapped and tucked away for surviving the next storm.
Like the sky, she had fallen, as the icy truth breathes fire in her face.
Her doubtful feet trudge along as the glacial winds blow in and cut like a knife.
She battens down the hatches, shivering with tormented delight.

Yeah you like the fire and ice thing just like I do. I can't help it, they just work so well as dualities. Great job, and great vocab, Kelly ♡♡
