I am, I was

I am, I was

A Poem by Kelley Quinn

I am innocent.

I am pretty.

I am thin.

I am smart.

I am nice.

I have good friends.

I am respectful.

I don’t do drugs.

I have good parents.

I do what I’m told.

I work hard.

I love my family.

I live in a good place.

I go to a good school.

I don’t get in trouble.

I am abstinent.

I am a good girl.

I have everything going for me.

I should be happy,

But I’m not.

Such irony expressed in this piece. This, indeed, mirrors life. Perhaps, John Bradshaw's right. Life is a marriage of opposites. I like the simplicity. Keep writing.
