A Shadow

A Shadow

A Poem by Kelley Quinn

How do shadows

Look so alive?

Bouncing off the walls:

So careless.

Yet still so

Full of life.

Relented.

Peaceful.

She wishes she could be like

the shadows.

Striking from one wall

To the next.

She wishes she could

Stop thinking

About her life.

That reckless catastrophe.

And still she wants to be

Beautiful.

And not

 Shunned upon

By everything

That she stands for.

Is she no different than you?

Maybe she could be a shadow:

Dark.

Mysterious.

Alone.

How fascinating

A shadow is.

On the wall and

Sliding past

Everything.

Out of sight.

Out of mind.

The peace;

Serenity.

How blissful.

She wants it.

I need it.

I want to be a shadow

Too

And be gone.

Away.

Dispersed.

From this world.

This chaos.

I want to live

My own life.

Just like her.

Just like

A shadow.
