With a Smile

With a Smile

A Poem by kar

Tattered and torn, ripped and sewn,

thrown and covered I survived your storm.

Woke to a new day; on my knees i prayed,

sweet morning rain cleansed my pain

Your demons haunt me; they chase down my dreams;

nowhere to hide, I am coming apart at the seems.

Exposed and naked, barren and cold,

remorse binds me to you like a carriage to a horse.

A child, bright-eyed and enamored,

I faithfully became a means to your end.

Eagerly, i followed  where you strayed,

Hanging on your every word, I fell.

Some days, when harsh winds blow, I miss you.

Your words echo like a drum in my head.

I feel guilty because my life is worth living;

so, with a smile, I to have let you go.

Sometime we must escape before we drown in places with no places to go. The above lines is fact when we cannot know peace with another. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
