The Passing Of The Storm

The Passing Of The Storm

A Poem by Kellee

frightened is
the child within
crying and dying
the thunder begins
crashing and rumbling
under her skin

not knowing when
the storm will pass
she crawls to the window
puts her hands on the glass

she sees her reflection
the fear in her eyes
the lightning it flashes
she looks to the skies

she cries out to the empty room
in her doom or in her gloom?
screaming for the sunlight
to release her from this night

to escape from all the fear
she's lived with all these years
