I remeber smiling

I remember smiling
But how do you smile
Think happy thoughts
Pull up the corners of your mouth
And squint your eyes slightly

I remember smiling
I remember how it feels
Empty without emotion
Blank without meaning

I remember smiling
But it has no meaning
Because I'm only smiling
Smiling on the outside

I remember smiling
To cheer up a friend
To hide a lifetime
To lift someone up
But I always find myself
Feeling almost dead

Personally, I really like this poem- it's simple yet very moving and I can connect with the feelings it's portraying.
Anyways, I thought the flow was smooth; the words were stringed together well. My only problem is the lines:
"Because I'm only smiling,
Smiling on the outside"
I didn't like the fact that you repeated 'smiling' twice, but it's nothing to fret about since, overall, the flow is still smooth.
