See all the defeated poets triumphant!

See all the defeated poets triumphant!

A Poem by K Scott Smith

See all the  defeated poets triumphant!
Stand aside,
or be swept away!

There are books to burn,
Candles to break,
Fires to start!

See all the defeated poets,
some grim and thin, others robust drunkards,
rouges, gypsies and rangers...

See them all at once ,
(on a whim)
see them dance and refuse to dance-
see them with all that ''sees''.
See them all lined up-

See all the defeated poets victorious!!!

I really like your poem. A great use of imagery and language to reiterate that words cannot be silenced.

However, as a visual artist and former graphic designer and illustrator, I recommend you change your font color and eliminate the blocking. Yellow is very difficult to read onscreen and the black blocking increases the problem, creating afterimages of each line and making it that much more difficult to follow the next line. If you uses a colored background, it should be the entire background, rather than blocking an entire body of text. That format is best reserved for titles or single words or a single line to set out for emphasis.
