See all the defeated poets triumphant!

See all the defeated poets triumphant!

A Poem by K Scott Smith

See all the  defeated poets triumphant!
Stand aside,
or be swept away!

There are books to burn,
Candles to break,
Fires to start!

See all the defeated poets,
some grim and thin, others robust drunkards,
rouges, gypsies and rangers...

See them all at once ,
(on a whim)
see them dance and refuse to dance-
see them with all that ''sees''.
See them all lined up-

See all the defeated poets victorious!!!

i saw them brother! that was my favourite poem of the three I have read. well written and original. as a poet call me biased but i particulary enjoyed the main image of turning defeated poets victorious, in what exactly i dont know, who cares, to see them victorious was uplifting to my spirit. thoughts have ripples. best wishes,

Upbeat, as triumphant songs should be. Poets are sterotypically all the things you mentioned; some are even rouged too.

This piece of poetry has expressive imagery and subtle emotion. A true pleasure to read!

This is an original prize of ingenious reflection. The vivid pictures were painted in epic fashion.
This stanza:
See all the defeated poets,
some grim and thin, others robust drunkards,
rouges, gypsies and rangers...

didn't quite flow as well as the rest of the piece. There are many ways to rephrase to make it more rhythmic so it doesn't take away from the beauty of the masterpiece. thank you for sharing.

Ahhh, the poets are free spirits in this piece...living their dreams or nightmares. I liked the ending's movement of the eyes upward.
