Insomnia Be Damned

By

Keith Fowler

So vast was the night

Stars, planets, comets,

Mars, Venus, Jupiter

Held in their places

By the saliva of God.

Angel wings bore up the moon

Even Zeus cried, his

Tears washing into the

Sea, lapping the shore

Pounding out the beats

Of man’s savage heart

Till gentle hypnose rode

In again and I purchased

My dreams once more.

To have to "purchase" your dreams is such a great way to put it because insomniacs "purchase" sleep with whatever they possibly can, if anything. Nice way to put it. I enjoyed your poem.
