The Forgotten Secret

The Forgotten Secret

A Poem by KeithFowler
"

What happens to he who hesitates

"

"Once a long time ago the wind whispered

a secret, but man forgot the answer.

So man sat down upon a mountain and

began to think of what the secret could be.

However, woman knew the answer, yet man did

not ask her, after all what could a woman know?

Man continued to sit and think, all through

the rain that poured down and the heat

of the summer sun, and shivered in the cold

of the winter of ice and deep wet snows.

Woman got tired of waiting to be asked,

she blew a kiss ever so lightly into the wind

it floated up and down as gently as a snowflake

until it landed upon man’s cheek, his eyes

grew large and his heart burst with flames

for now, he remembered the secret of the wind.

The secret he forgot for so long was this,

never forget to ask your helpmate, for when

you do the love you desire may pass you

by, and float onto the cheek of another."

I really enjoyed the snowflake as imagery. It was as if you were saying "If man doesn't let this snowflake fall on woman's nose, another man will." I don't know if that's what you were going for. However, it was beautifully written and I enjoyed reading it.
