Valentines day rose

I wrote this, the night a friend told me, we were just friends and nothing more.

On this special day,

A rose is a gift so true.

For it explains the feelings,

That I have for you.

 

Like a rose you are so beautiful.

You’re a star in the mid-night sky.

And how you are so perfect,

I never will know why.

 

Yet like a rose, you too have thorns,

And how they hurt so bad.

I was pricked and now my heart does bleed,

These feelings which are so sad.

 

A companion is al I am to you,

I’m nothing more then that.

Our conversations will always be,

Just a friendly chat.

 

And so this rose I give to you,

With feelings that I can hide.

A simple poem from just a friend,

With a deeper truth inside
