Identity of a Soul mateA Poem by 𝔸ʂɾıéli໐ຖ Ş໐นl
Do you ever wonder if the moon is lonely?
We see and admire the stars that surround it We watch it appear as the sun leaves and disappear as the sun returns We know how attached the moon is to the Earth and we know how closely it affects the Earth... but yet, I wonder if the moon is alone... What is a soul mate? One who sticks with you forever? Not necessarily perfect but could never do wrong? "A soul mate is supposedly someone that connects with you You could be total opposites but somehow, everything just seems to click when you're together" There are so many definitions for a soul mate Everyone has their own idea of what or who a soul mate is In the same way everyone has different views of what love is So most people "know" what a soul mate is and yet most people never get to find their soul mate... From the casual knowledge we learn from our parents as we grow up to the romance and love stories that surround us We are told that there is someone out there for each and every one of us We are fed ideas of how this one person will bring happiness in our lives and so some of us end up sabotaging ourselves either waiting for the one and avoiding those who show a slight flaw we dislike or clinging onto someone who we believe is everything viewing their negative behaviour to be quaint and excusing their toxicity in fear of being alone. What if... soul mates don't exist? What if all the encouragement to get married or finding happiness... was all a lie? Don't get me wrong, I know there are people out there madly in love and experiencing their happiest moments... But what if all that is a coincidence? From the increasing number of divorces to those forced into marriage... Have we lied to ourselves about what love is? To those who have found their one and only, I envy I tell you don't take what you have for granted for most of us are still searching
