Sounds Like A Speech

Sounds Like A Speech

A Poem by Keeley

I'm tired of trying to be...
what you want me to be
I’m tired of trying to match up to society.
There's no way I can be you.
So, I guess I'm stuck with me.
Life isn’t all it's cracked up to be...
The grass is not greener on the other side.
Why waste away in the sunshine,
or get pulled out to sea by the tide?
Each day doesn’t greet you with open arms,
the world is too cruel and hateful,
to be judging on what they consider as right or wrong.
Too self absorbed and greedy to realize what’s going on.
I hate the world and what it has done.
So why do we raise our flags with pride?
Why do we think we have the perfect nation?
Everyone still has a form of self segregation.
My anticipation for the world to change,
seems more pointless,
like a war I know I’m gonna lose.
My hope falls each day when I turn on the news.
The world has got to choose,
when the time is right,
when to make peace.
And when to fight,
when to stand together,
and stop being apart.
When to accept everyone,
and when to show some heart.
