Secret Lullaby

Secret Lullaby

A Poem by Keeley

This is my secret lullaby.

I never sing aloud,

the story of my broken heart

that no one knows about.

There is one who holds my heart.

Do you know who you are?

Like a child who lost their way,

I stumble in the dark.

But then, you came and said to me,

“Come,” and held out your hand.

I took it and our fingers clasped,

you led me to a different land.

You loved me and cared for me,

like no one had before,

and before I realized it,

my heart was wholly yours.

But, then a change came over you,

and you walked away,

and left me in the dark once more,

to try and find my way.

I tried to fix my heart again,

but it was to no avail,

and then I found out I hurt a friend,

and I became more frail.

Now sometimes, when I close my eyes,

I can see your face.

But when I open them again,

it slowly fades away.

I would, if I changed myself,

would you come back to me?

Yet somewhere, deep in my heart,

I know that it will not be.

So, now I gather up the pieces

of my shattered heart

and give it to another to fix,

who I know won’t tear it apart.

I thought this to be very well presented and quite touching. the name is perfect , as it was written with a lullaby feel to the flow. Very beautiful write.

that was stunning
the beginning is me... small, naive
but later on isn't.. =/

This poem is beautiful.
We always give our hearts to someone we known won't break it.
Kind of like an arranged marriage.
We aren't as happy as we would be if we could feel the pain of real love.
But he aren't hurt.
The first part had me a bit confused and didn't seem to fit with the rest.
But then I went back over it and it all seemed to fit somehow.
Brilliant and Lovely.
