Love and Summer Love

Love and Summer Love

A Poem by Keeley

I remember the good times that we had,

the pain of laughing that we shared.

I remember the bad times when we stuck together.

I remember the temptations that we gave in to

and that’s when I realized that it was only summer love,

a love that forever binds two people together,

who became friends when the summer ends.

It was you who broke my heart,

but I still loved you anyways.

It was you who caused me pain,

but I still loved you anyways.

It was you who said you just wanted to be friends,

but I still loved you anyways.

You were my first

and I still wanted you to be my last.

I still love you with everything that I am,

but the summer came to an end.

And you went back to Connecticut,

while I went back to Kansas.

You never call me, even though you said you would,

but I still love you anyways.

You never write, even though you said you would,

but I still love you anyways.

You never email me, even though you said you would,

but I still love you anyways.

You never come to visit me, even though you said you would,

but I still love you anyways.

See, no matter what you do,

I still love you anyways.

That’s the difference between love and summer love.
