Dependent

Dependent

A Poem by Keeley

DEPENDENT

I believe in water

as it drips from the sink

from the faucet

to the porcelain.

Water could wash

away my past

and clean my future.

It surrounds this island;

I’ve been exiled

by my peers

and am listening

to the broken faucet

in a bathroom

by my room

beat a steady rhythm

to my brain,

it makes my heart

beat in sync,

but when it ceases,

will I, too, disappear?
