Tears fail to put out fires

Tears fail to put out fires

A Chapter by KeeD

It was an uneasy night

far different from the rest

like knives poking at my stomach

could feel my heart trying to jump out of breast

Sound of footsteps crept into my ears

passed the bedroom window they grew near

The ringing of the chapel bell

something was happening but I couldn't tell

something terrible was coming, I found myself asking for help

Sudden banging at the door

Father?

the noise of footsteps got louder

the voices outside began to roar

the village gathered

but, what for?

Witch!

I could see my reflection in their eyes

Burn Witch!

You mother Satan's child

My cries and pleas fell to deaf ear

They dragged me through the streets

Witch you partake in Sabbaths

In Satan's name you pray and feast

At the center of the village I was placed

An ancient wooden stake

Not a soul to defend the accusations they would make

The weight of my tears hit the cursed ground

I could feel the life in me slowly start to drown

Nowhere to run, no refuge I shall seek

captured and damned

the fire blazed beneath my feet

The flames they grew bolder and I could feel my skin peel

Yesterday I was the mayors daughter

Today I'm the devils keep

Mega Bien - burned alive at the stake in Fulda in the autumn of 1603.
