While the city dreams

While the city dreams

A Poem by KeeD

The crackle in the cold nights breeze

the fire under the bridge it speaks

Warm words for the broken and weak

While the city dreams

Where do we come from? we play this game

counting our dollars and applying blame

does it matter, in the end we're all the same

While the city dreams

Tucked away tonight without worry

the cardboard house is flooded with rain

Shivers take claim, being fortunate is a different kind of pain

While the city dreams

Love unites the flies with streetlights

amusing is the sight to a child of the night

Behind the dumpster lies humanity's answer to society

While the city dreams

I immediately thought of the paper shacks in Rio being cleared to make way for the Olympics. Great write. Two minor things: first line cold night's and humanities should be humanity's
