Heroin

Heroin

A Poem by KeeD

 photo Heroin_zpsd8b32fd7.jpg

I am slowly sinking deep beneath

as the earth's crust it covers me

the waves they gently blanket me

as I float away beyond the trees

I see the lady in the lake

she wants me to come drown again

take me to a different place

where the sun still shines and the days don't end

I need a chance to escape

from my whirlpool of tears

bring me the horizon friend

I need to disappear

free falling into the core

I've had enough of not having more

I want to lay before the storm

so I can feel alive/dead again

I need a chance to escape

from my whirlpool of tears

bring me the injection friend

I want to numb the pain

Heroin

Say no to drugs, it has ruined countless families.

A little poets insight into what this poem means.
It's basically an addicts cry for the drug, you see how captivated and obsessed the addict is with the drug, he knows its deadly, he knows hes sinking and drowning but the idea of that elevated high, the feeling of being alive which is overrated because its actually the feeling of being close to dead. Don't let something alter the way you want to feel, be it a drug, a woman or man, alcohol. If you want to feel good, do something good and trust me you will feel good.

Yeah, I get it. I agree to say no to drugs. Once people get started they have trouble getting stopped, finding it pretty impossible for some.

That was beautiful, like writing a love letter to a drug. Don't get me wrong. I don't condone drug abuse, but it has inspired beautiful things in writing as well as other art.

Hello Cynical Method,

This was a really good strong write on Heroin. Reading stuff like this reminds me of all those programmes I used to watch on Television - it is dreadful what some people do to their bodies. Makes me shiver. Good one.

Thanks Summer, yeah indeed the world's a scary place when it comes to substance abuse.
This hit close to home for me since my nephew has been in the grips of heavy
Drug use, for a long while, indeed tearing my sister's heart apart,
obviously; as well as the rest of
Me & My families.

This is brilliantly evocative of how one feels the hopeless abyss
Of the claws of despair that they're so desperate that they feel no choice but to
Escape their painful reality, realizing how it's destroying their very being and witnessing
The helpless on their loved one's faces, yet at that moment, they're unable to to
Ignore the Lady Of the Lake's call, as they indeed drown in her arms over and over again.

That said, whew, once again this is amazingly written, with exquisite eloquent
Insight. Incredible use in your choice of words, poignant imagery and fluidity.

stunning write, CM - thanks for sharing, pen on. :)

I respect your thoughts.
I really like this. My brother had a bad drug addiction, and my mom was an addict.. It's amazing and horrible how obsessed with drugs people become once they get addicted to them.. This was a wonderful poem, thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's sad. You're welcome. xoxoxo
The false enlightenment that mind altering drugs provide. We don't seem to want to learn. A horrible topic but a truly beautiful write. Your words flow with such ease and grace.

Gripping. Powerfully telling. Like James Brown's "King Heroin" where you leave feeling weighted
down by a certain heaviness, not yours. I was told that when a hit of heroin kills someone on the
street, all the other users want to experience those same disheartening effects. (???) Great poem.

Say no to alchohol and drugs.
