My Sunshine

for someone special who makes me feel special

My tears rained heavy

           as the sun flaked out

You make my life bright again

           the silver lining to the storm cloud

How does a man

           learn to run wild and free like the wind

You show me how to feel alive again

           I feel you take me under your wings

You're like an angel 

           falling from a cosmic place

Fixing broken pieces in the sky

           you complete the puzzle of my life

The way you listen and understand

          your ability to be so radiant

Shine on, no more defeat for me

           in you I've found a best friend 

The earth could stand still for a day

           but my heart would still sway

To the rhythm of the beat

           as you move your dancing feet

My sunshine, my savior

           my present and my forever.

An interesting form, and pulled off with such poignant clarity. I love the way the lines flow together so effortlessly, as though this is just a snippet of a conversation overheard in a coffee shop of little out of the way cafe. Nicely done.
