Distribution and UtilizationA Chapter by KeeD
Waking up to the sun rising over a broken city, Jordan didn't even realize he had fallen asleep. So many questions building up in his head, basic instinct was to investigate the mutation on his back. The alloy weapon that he pulled out of his spine was no where to be seen. Feeling his back, everything seemed to be normal with no scars. "What the f**k?" he thought to himself... "I must have been dreaming, that was some weird trip". Shaking off this confusion, he stands up on his feet, dusts his clothes and exits the apartment through the window and climbs down the fire escape.
Jordan places his hand inside his pockets and takes out the remaining samples of this new Rust, observing it with careful eyes. "I've got to tell Leith about this", Jordan convinces himself. Making his way down to The Market the cities hangout for trade and recreational activity. Jordan asks around for Leith but no one is the least bit interested in giving him any information. "Hey pretty boy, I can give you the time of your life for some of that good stuff you're always selling", a street walker approaches him. "Just tell me if you've seen Leith?", Jordan affirmatively asked. Everyone in this city knew of Leith, the Sera trader and along with that came a reputation of being a terror, someone who no one could f**k around with. She pointed at the Tulip, a whorehouse in the city where a lot of traders who had money would go for business and pleasure. Jordan walks into the joint, placing his hood over his head to avoid attracting attention from curious eyes. The ambiance of the place was something only people could dream of in a dead broken planet such as Earth. Beautiful species of women and men from different planets, music that aroused every sense, if you thirsted for a good time the Tulip was set destination, an oasis in the most unpleasant desert. An employee of the Tulip pointed to the VIP area on the first floor, as Jordan took a deep breath and walked up towards it. Noticing him making his way, a girl hinted him over, Come sit, drink, tell me your story she said. I am Mila, a Sera trader and explorer from Alasus. She seemed amazed at Jordan's body as she kept staring at him like he was on her every thought. He could read her eyes and was quiet scared of what her true intentions were. No one wanted to cross with a Sera even if it was for pleasure, one mistake resulted in death. Jordan smiled and removed the rust from his pocket and asked her if she would like to try some. Her eyes slowly glanced down at the capsules he held in his hand, only then did her expression change from being comfortable to a sudden state of utter shock. With haste she grabbed his hand and took him into the restroom. "How did you get your hands on this?", Mila asked. Terrified he muttered, "My supplier asked me to sell these around these parts." "Who is your supplier?", she demanded answers. "L..Leith, Sera trader, i'm sorry but have I done something wrong?" "This is Protas Rust", she began to explain, "an experimental drug my government is creating. It alters the subjects 'dna', making blood and oxygen in the body to convert into carbon. This carbon can be manipulated and mutates the subject. It's a high risk drug and shouldn't be sold in the open market." " What is Leith up to?" she looks at the drug and ponders to herself. Baffled and yet so curious Jordan asks her a couple of questions, just then she lunges onto him and kisses him. "Close call", says Mila, as people enter the restroom. "We cannot talk here, it isn't safe" meet me at my place, here's the address", on the way out she says,"I'll tell you all you need to know." With Leith no where to be seen inside the Tulip, Jordan starts to walk out. Just as he exits the join he gets pushed to the floor. "Give me whatever you have on you or else" yells one of the two men mugging him. Jordan claims to be a junkie with nothing, just that claim results in him taking a few more blows to the chest. Going in and out of consciousness he see's them take off with the stash of Protas Rust. Fear sets into Jordan's mind as he knows the pain he's in now is nothing compared to what he'll receive if Leith finds out that the drugs were stolen. Jordan runs to a mechanized phone stall and makes a video call to one of his loyal customers. The man on the other side of the phone assures Jordan that he'll take care of it and asks him to meet him by the blood lake. They called it the blood lake because during the war when the Sera captured Earth, the water of the lake turned red from all the casualties and bodies dumped into it. Jordan picks himself up and starts to walk towards the lake, only to come across Leith on the way there. "Why if it isn't my favorite human", smirks Leith. "Boss, I've sold most of your stuff the rest of it is kept safe and hidden" explains Jordan, now ever so petrified. Leith points at the road behind him, looking over Jordan see's the two people that mugged him shredded apart along with the customer who he asked to help track them down. "Safe, you said" as he tosses the Rust over to Jordan. "Don't ever let me catch you lie to me again, sell these as fast as you can and report back to me with all details" as he walks away. Like surviving a plane crash, Jordan takes small step after step trying to play over in his head exactly what just happened. Leith gets back to the tulip where he finds a package waiting in his room. Just as he goes to investigate what the package holds, his projector rings, "I've sent you the next shipment of Rust, spread the epidemic.Create my army, a horde of soldiers disposable at my cost." "Your word is my will, Commander" replies Leith. Outside the room stands Mila, ease dropping on the entire conversation. She smiles as she quickly disappears before she is discovered. Jordan manages to sell the rest of the rust to his customers all over the city. The city always was the breathing ground for trouble but no one was prepared for what was to happen next. "Distribution and utilization of Metalingus initiated." "Let the fireworks begin", as Leith smiles and looks out the window of the Tulip, to see mutated humans running around with metallic alloys for weapons killing each other.
