Prelude - Who They AreA Chapter by Keanna DanielsLucy The one thing Lucy wanted, was to be free. Free of the monster that consumed her life. At fourteen, Lucy Von Schultz was an average girl. Living in San Diego was amazing in every way. She had the boyfriend of her dreams, a huge new house, all of the hottest clothes, and the most amazing friends. Lucy was living the life she always thought she'd have, and the life she'd never expected to lose. Lucy was tall, tan, and athletic. She had shoulder-length, sandy blond hair, brilliant blue eyes, and a smile that could replace the sun. Lucy was always the center of attention among the boys, but she didn't realize it, and she wasn't in anyway anything less than innocent. Besides Lucy's model looks, Lucy always had a positive outlook on life, and always tried to think of the good things, even in a bad situation. She was always able to make others feel better, and she could always make people laugh. She was friendly and trustworthy, caring and humble. She was always available to talk to, and would go to the farthest lengths for her friends and the people she loved. Lucy had five best friends, who she trusted with the world, and depended on them with everything she had. Eric Shaw was Lucy's absolute best friend in the whole world. He had just turned fifteen, and he was everything every girl wanted. He had dirty blond curly hair, that hung loosely around his face and bounced when he ran. He had a deep tan, and a killer body. He had dark green eyes that made you turn to putty with the combination of his newly-lowered voice. As much as the girls loved him, he was unavailable. He was completely in love with Lucy, and he was sure they'd be together forever, despite the fact that they were only teens. Samantha "Sammie" Leigh and Becky Dyer were opposites that were exactly alike. They both had silky black hair; Becky's was worn in a short black bob, that caressed her heart-shaped face. Sammie's was to middle of her back, that was either worn in a messy bun or a long braid. Becky had dark olive skin, and fierce brown eyes, Sammie had very pale skin, was much shorter than Becky, and had much larger, less fierce plain hazel eyes. Becky listened to hard rock and wore strange clothes, she was quiet, but made a point. Sammie listened to classical music, was always called boring, wore plain clothes, and couldn't make a point without clearly stating it. Besides music, style, and most entertainment, they always agreed. They usually gave similar advice, agreed on a lot of points and theories, and got a long great. They were the best of friends, and no on could change that. Emma Wells was always trying to live up to her reputation. She was always labeled with negative names among the girls, and always adored by the guys. She wore clothes that begged for attention, and she was always called fake. As much as that may be true, Emma was a very good friend. Emma and Lucy had been friends since the second grade and Lucy had always noticed Emma's change, but never saw it through; she knew Emma like no one else had, and she wouldn't let her go. Benny Marks was a very strange fellow. He always thought differently than others, and his opinion was never taken seriously; even though his intention to be serious. Benny was very ahead academically, and He was the smartest one in the entire high school. Although he had straight A's, and he was at the top of the class, he was very much socially awkward. He dressed like he came from a different time zone, talked like he came from a different century, and acted as though he were an adult. But as weird as he was, his friends loved him all the same. Sophie Life in Oakland was risky. The streets of Oakland were tough. But living on the streets
of Oakland, was too much to handle for most; But for Sophie, it was all
she knew, all she grew up with, And Sophie knew at a young age to trust
no one. Sophie Biendetta was strong, and independent when it came to facing peers. She was tough, and people feared her. She stood her ground, and knew how to make it through a rough time. She supported her dying mom, two ill little sisters, and a high school career. But Sophie has a secret, a secret that no one except her knew. A secret that could kill her, and her family Sophie was a well built girl, she was very muscular, and had hard features. She had stringy brown hair, and light brown skin. Large eyes, and large pouty lips, that were always in a grimace. She was a very beautiful girl, but few seemed to realize it. Sophie had two friends, Louis Josef, and Jessica Mendez. Louis was large and almost pure muscles. Jessica was weak, but had no need to fight, people liked her, and she was quite popular. They were both very handsome, and if it weren't for befriending Sophie, and living where they are, they would be the most popular people in Oakland, but they stood by Sophie, and Sophie stood by them, it was all she had. Caden Caden always felt alone, he never had anyone. But as bad as it was, this year was going to get worse. Caden Brougham was a quiet, and self-serving teen. Almost sixteen, he hadn't know there was much more of a life than he had. He had lived the same way since he started school. He was quite unsocial, and didn't talk much. Caden had black hair that was long and covered his eyes. He was very thin, and very pale, and always wore plain clothes. He was a musician, a writer, and an artist. He always felt he could openly express himself doing these things, and he planned on basing a career out of it. Caden didn't have many friends, he actually only had two friends. But these friends were the best friends anyone could ask for. They were always there for him, always looked out for him, and they were the only ones who know who Caden actually was, or why he came to Boston in the first place. Liz Winslow was a very unique person. She had a loud, but laid-back, random, and down to earth personality. She had long, big, razored hair, that was silky black, with platinum streaks in the bottom. She was also very pale, and very very thin. She had small but beautiful features, and she was always there to talk to. She was very artsy and thought differently than a lot. She wore all black all the time, and she listened to loud and in-your-face music, but she was a good, and trustworthy kid. Dan Tyler had the potential for great things, but he let people's threats and criticism get to him. He was also a musician, but he didn't have as much of a drive for it. He had black and blond long hair that covered one eye. he had a lip ring and his eyebrow was pierced as well. He was tall and lanky, and very shy. He didn't talk much at all, even among Liz and Caden. He was pretty plain, but he had strange thoughts that he never told anyone of. Anna Anna didn't know she had a choice, she didn't know she didn't have to live with it. Anna was average height, and looked pretty average. She had dark brown hair that hung limply to just below her shoulders, and dark blue eyes that seemed to glow. She was very thoughtful, quiet, and patient. She had a lot of friends, but not many close ones. She had three very close friends, but she didn't have any best friends. She wasn't very trusting, so she never told anyone what was wrong, or didn't tell any of them secrets. She mostly kept to herself and didn't like to be a burden. She had one deep dark secret that she especially never told anyone. Nate Hains was an average fifteen year old boy. He had a lot of friends, loved playing sports, flirting with girls, and eating. Nate was the captain of the Varsity football team, despite only being a sophomore. His girlfriend, Anna, was very grateful to have Nate, but Nate didn't realize how lucky he was to have her. He was quite controlling, and demanded to know where Anna was at all times. He was always comparing Anna to other girls, and always criticizing her. Nate seemed like a relatively nice guy, but only Anna knew what he was really like. Maya O'Neil was a very plain girl. Having moved to Boston from a small town in Maine, she still wasn't quite used to the idea of living in a big city. She had curly brown hair, and light hazel eyes. She wore plain clothes, and listened to soft and quiet music. Her first friend here in Boston was Anna, and she thought the world of her. She didn't realize that Anna had so much to hide, and she also didn't realize that Anna wasn't as close to Maya, as Maya thought they were. Michael Randolf. No one knew much about him except Anna and Nate. He was loud and random, and always trying o be the class-clown. He had dark blond hair that was always over gelled and spiked. He had plain green eyes, and was thin and athletic. He wasn't liked very much because of his strange personality, but he was a genuine good guy. © 2010 Keanna DanielsAuthor's Note
