At this station

At this station

A Poem by Kevin Doran
"

A poem related to my grandad who is very sick at the moment, hope he gets better soon. Just needed to say stuff out loud and here it is.

"

Standing at this station,

I can almost hear her calling to you. If I really listen.

Because we’re right on the edge you and me,

The only difference being I don’t have to go anywhere,

I'm just watching you leave.

And this is the one journey that you really can’t pack for,

Though I like to think we’ve all tried to help you pack,

Courage, love, hope.

You were always going to leave the happy memories with us,

I hope you remembered to keep some for the journey.

And underneath,

We’ve all tried to convince ourselves that we’ll see you soon,

That even if we don’t, our paths will at some point cross.

But you won't be able to phone us when you get there,

To tell us you arrived safely. That we will to.

I hope you have a safe journey,

Because I hear heaven’s nice this time of year.
