PerseveranceA Poem by Khalab Darnell“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” ― Confucius
As a young man I've endured trials and tribulations,
Been lied to, rebuked. Yet I have not given in to society, Simply because the struggle is what puts the drive in me, No hand outs, no trust, Just a steady pace, and the lust. Waking up every morning catching the same bus, Left behind by my nation, No hope hope for my generation, Judged by many because, We do not meet expectations. Perceived as a screw up; a mistake, But perseverance helps me keep the faith. The hope the joy, of an 18 year old boy, Just wanting to make it in life, But the dejection and oppression leads me to a weapon. Emptying the negative from my brain, Trying to live right driving me insane, But perseverance is key. A key to the door in which unlocks reality, A reality which is a mystery, Since we have failed too see that education is key, There it is again. Key: A tool in which to unlock ones self from the barriers of life, Used to set free from darkness and guide you to light. Perseverance is the solution, To this worldwide pollution, If you unlock the doors you have proven, Those of us as a generation aren't just statistics, No longer victims, But victors. Perseverance is key.
