Casket of Tears

Casket of Tears

A Poem by KODA
"

Importance is served in taking upon a burden not yours and shouldering it for another.

"

I’m there when the storm hits

To pick up all the pieces

That the wind will kick.

I’ll be there to fix

Your buildings made of brick.

Run to me, dear, my arms are open;

I’ll mend the parts so torn and broken

With words quickly pardoned

You burned until soft and golden

Now maddened from heat and seeking relief.

I’ll take the burden my dear darlin’ thief

When you burn with hate’s heat

Dance with me demon, follow the beat

Sing as the music pounds beneath your feet.

Stay with me, doll, before we reach the creek.

I’ll take the burden, my lovely little sun

Of stitching together your scorched quilt

As my lies become undone.

I’ll listen as clouds pour rain on my stone walls

And wait until there are none left to fall

Before I tend to the flower that’s started to wilt.

I’ll take the burden, my blessed betrothed

Of weaving together a basket

Filled with flowers and cloth.

As the bells chime on the final dark hours

And rain falls in momentary showers,

I’m there when they lower your tear-filled casket.
