20 Minutes

20 Minutes

A Poem by KODA
"

Spend those moments you have to yourself wisely. Get what's needed to be done finished before escaping from the fight that is soon to come.

"

One, two, three, four.

Leave your complaints at the door.

Five, six, seven, eight.

Eat your dinner, clean your plate.

Nine, ten, eleven, twelve.

Pick up everything from the shelf.

Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen.

Remember to dust everything in between.

Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty.

Run to your room before you’re seen.

Cover your ears and shut your eyes.

Your time of silence is up.

Shut off the lights

Turn the music up

To try and drown the sound of fights.

This is a creative way to craft a message of hustle-bustle. I have to admit, I like the part with counting better than the ending. The sequence of events seems to be "off" toward the end of your message -- time is up and after that, you start talking about relaxing quiet time. That seems backwards to me. Everything else about this poem is so structured & so exact, as far as well-crafted rhyme & rhythm, I would expect the sequence of events to also be more logically stated at the end, which is the crux of your message. This is a very relatable idea as I'm sure many people do not give themselves the gift of solitude or quiet or stillness (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
