Chapter 1

Misty was everything soft and feminine. She had fair hair that sparkled like drops from the sun and flowed like a golden waterfall. Her eyes were like pools of blue twinkling from a perfectly featured face. The elfin like features she shared with her mother were at odds to the stature she inherited from her father. The combination resulted in an exquisite breathtaking boldness.
Despite her beauty, rumored to be a priestess, people turned and looked away anytime she was near, fearing her gaze. Her looks were unrivaled within the castle walls. To some that confirmed that she was indeed an unnatural being, something to be feared to and to others it was a source of extreme jealousy either way it created a void between the villagers and her.
Misty was aware of the villagers misguided fear, for she saw them in her visions secretly scanning for her in the dark of night. She saw what others could not; she felt what others never would. Thus, she secreted herself away, choosing to remain separate from everyone else.

On a bright beautiful day, she closes her eyes and focuses her senses on the sounds and smells around her. She can detect the slight breeze as it lifts her hair and shifts it so it lightly brushes against her cheek. On the breeze she can smell the salty tang that can only be related to the sea. The sound on the wind brings to mind the movement of the reeds swaying to and fro with each passing. In her mind she captures the moment and blends it with memories, bittersweet memories.
In an instant she is soaring above the trees on the wings of a dove, viewing everything from above. She can feel the gentle breeze under her, around her, and through her. It is peaceful being carried on the breeze. Her mother, long since departed from this world, is with her. She can feel her all around, lifting her and guiding her through the currents of the wind.
“The eve of redemption is near, be careful my daughter” is whispered on the wind, she feels the sensation of the ominous warning deep within her at the same time a staccato of hoof beats breaks the spell and brings her crashing back to reality. Her escort, who was waiting patiently nearby, removes the tethers from the horses and readies them for departure, never once taking his eyes from the menacing group of riders quickly approaching the manor.
Taking this as a sign that the brief respite is now over, she gathers her things and approaches her escort.
With a sigh, she asks Edward for a hand up to her mount and gives into the whims of fate.
She had seen glimpses of the future, the future she was going to have with the lead man in the group clamoring by, and the future was fraught with pain and misery.
