Unlike Her

Unlike Her

A Poem by Juan Muniz

Like a good song, it stuck in my head,
Like fire, it burned brightly,
A million whispers I've heard,
None so real, unlike hers.

One, two, three, so simple, right?
Dancing all throughout the night,
In the forest trying to find its way home.
I looked for them yet could never find a word.
Heartless it seemed, reality as it was,
A star only in my eyes...
A simple desire at its core, a necessary obsession.
"I'm here" I said. Not a word heard.
Home was salvation, I saw you there. You were always there, waiting for me.

Now I see, what you meant.
The love I wanted wasn't lost, it was looking for me, because I was.

A million whispers I had heard
None so real, unlike hers...
Written in stardust across the sky,
That a love like ours wasn't so hard to find.
