Facades of LivingA Poem by KayyA poem that I wrote a while back.
We are but hamsters running on little spinning wheels,
Our minds under the illusion that we are escaping the great cat with each turn. We continuously strive to push the boulder up the hill despite it forever rolling back, Soothing our thoughts that each time we did it, "A little quicker." The slab of rock chained to our back has deformed us into hideous little creatures, We sell the humanity left within us so we can consume products concocted by man to mask our ugliness. We bloat our very beings with chemicals and inorganic materials, The promised little smile reigning us in to fill our emaciated shells. We've created a false sense of happiness in the form of a little capsule, Our bottomless void being temporarily filled with euphoria for a few fleeting moments in the span of infinity. Our knees have grown accustomed to the numbness, Hysterical begging for forgiveness filled with empty promises. We sell our intelligence and originality to satisfy the aliens above us with their machines of mind control, Casting the stones and labeling those who try and spread their wings from the doldrums of the cyclical turning of the clock. Who are we to try and step out from our formation? Who are we to try and break free of the ranks of the brainwashed vessels? Who are we to try and fight back against the powers who hold us in the very palm of their hands? We continuously try to raise our swords against the hydra, But no matter how many heads we've defeated it's for naught. We are forever enslaved to shed our blood and tears, Slowly wasting away to a battle that cannot be won. © 2014 KayyAuthor's Note
