ZOMBIES

ZOMBIES

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"

Dark Age we called the days of old

though everything was green and beautiful.

The sky above was blue and bold,

with the oceans below, filled with life in full.

Tranquility lied in the world of men

with the mist of love fogging the air.

Life was good and things were fair,

keeping humanity in a state of rest.

Greed and deception soon seized the earth,

driving us insane as if we were possessed.

We became too full and highly obsessed.

unleashing the plague of pain and fear.

Time keeps decaying to sink the past,

blanking the memories of the prime of life.

Evolution spread its wings wide far apart,

flying us to a destination so void and vague.

Now getting mesmerized by social norms,

falling into the traps of media opinions,

we're getting brainwashed by what we watch,

as if we are all zombies in a lawless world.

The past keeps taking the best of life away

leaving to us nothing but memories that fade.

The future of the world is slipping away,

yet we keep dining and wining every day.

No one seems to see the sky falling

as we keep following the trend blindly.

Why can't we just choose to be different?

Why can’t we look back to see how we’ve failed?

Wow, Kay! This is something! The downfall of man is of his own making. So much truth spoken here.

That is it, Sonnie.
Thank you for stopping by.
The issues with life changing has gone on for a very, very long time...actually forever. People spoke and wrote about these thoughts again and again way back when...the thought that the rainbow is faded will never cease..war, hate, pain, suffering...as long as people feel that they are superior to anyone that is different then they are then there will be inhumanity.
We can only strive to make our time here better for the ones around us...to bring hope into our lives..
I often think back to the time when there were no cars, etc.and, what people were concerned about during those times. (the fear) what the settlers in new found places thought...and on and on.
The hate in the world is terrible and our only hope is that people wake up...perhaps it feels worse today because we are all actually living through it. Mans inhumanity to man goes on and on....
Your poem holds true now and then...More, very interesting to read your words...

This one comes across as a warning. The poet speaks of a past "Dark Age" which actually did have its advantages. The present time, however, seems filled with foreboding, and the media have no small part in it. We are becoming "zombies" brainwashed by what we are continually seeing, and we may end up paying dearly for it. I must agree. Though the electronic media have brought us many blessings, the continual bombardment of negativity and divisiveness is sowing seeds of calamity.

That was a powerful insight, John.
The bad are now outweighing the good.
chicken little sings it's calls of impending disasters no more
canaries always die of poisonous propaganda
what once was deplorable is now the norm
the extremists of today have beaten senseless its followers with lies hatred and racism
it is up to us to raise the alarm for man to begin recovery
your pen is mighty and important to human kind

your strength and words give an inkling of hope

Such an emotional poem about things many of us have wondered. And the problem with mankind is that we never learn from our mistakes.

Great read. I must say you are far wiser than your words. Deep, really moving. Hey, can I ask you something? How many times have we been down this road before until we finally make a choice between the two. What is the answer? When did you know enough had been done and it is time to try something new. I know it is like pulling teeth, but if you really look and listen you'd find the meaning. And I want to thank you for the passion of discovery. Stay hungry, like children who endlessly devote energy towards happy things. Do not be afraid, try something today. Keeper of the dreams. Alive.

Sure. I agree.
The world is not in a good place. So much division. Everything seems to be driven by the media and like sheep. most people follow. Yes, I would agree there is brain washing. I really do reflect on what life was like when I was younger, and feel that my grandchildren are missing out on what I once had. Thought provoking write Kay.

The above lines. Are true. Like Russia talking of nuclear weapons. Why would wise men threaten our world with complete death? Outstanding poetry my friend.
