Rethink

"Time flies!" We keep shouting,
While we neglect all necessities.
We mount on the wings of chance
Hoping for a better day to come around.

We work hard doing the wrong thing
Pushing a mountain instead of climbing it.
We keep saying tomorrow would be fine
Until we are totally lost in the past.

Better we drop every luggage and baggage
That's slowing us down along the way
Better we let go things and memories
That never stop hurting us everyday.

I'll keep myself busy with my destiny.
Setting up goal and chasing after it.
'cause I'm sure that time leaves behind
Those who take its presence for granted.

Indeed many of us waste time simply living rather than really taking life by the scruff of the neck and doing what we want, what we are capable of. Then we simply rue the day as time has left us behind. Nicely put in a poem that seems to say I understand and will not stay stuck.

That line stood out for me Kay, very much so. When times get tough, we have a habit of reflecting on events in the past when things were much better. Tough times call for determination and focus. Your poem is uplifting in its outlook even though we, on a global scale are having to deal with enormous challenges. Well written.
