When I thought all was over,
When I thought the beginning was the end.
When life turned upside down,
And the sun was far from the earth,
When darkness grip my heart,
Encumbering my mind with fear.
Down on my knees I cried,
Praying for heaven to come and help.
When the sky was coming down on me,
When the earth was sinking below my feet,
When the Stars are twinkling darkness,
And the moon turned its back at me..
When my hope was quietly dying,
And rainbows of death overshadowed me,
I called on to my father in heaven,
Who came in haste to rescue me.
Faith in our God is a salvation we need especially when He is speaking to us through natural disasters. He tells us to abandon our sinful ways and follow Him.
The best two lines:
"When the Stars are twinkling darkness,
And the moon turned its back at me."
(especially "twinkling darkness" - so uniquely stated!)
The weakest line: first one (should draw the reader in, but it's bland and not descriptive of anything that explodes in the reader's senses).
All in all, this is a strong relatable poem that appears to present a Christian viewpoint, but without any of the religiosity that can sometimes weigh a spiritual poem down for me. This is light & meaningful, no matter how a reader views the spiritual connection (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much, Margie.
I'm learning everyday.
And I really appreciate this.
The power of nature moves us and affects as, as you capture here in graphic and dramatic images. 'The heavens declare the glory of God'... and many a man and woman fall to their knees and give thanks for the power that surpasses understanding, but can be felt as a father's care and assurance of love.
A pleasing write.

It's an amazing experience to have faith and believe that all can be done through God.
This is so beautiful and a wonderfully intimate look at spirituality and how in our darkest hour there is still peace of mind to be found. Simply love this write.

Beautiful poem, Kay. This reminds me of something a friend kindly told me when I had lost my faith. "If you don't get on your knees and pray, God will put you there... mercifully." Thank you for sharing this one.

This is truly beautiful. You portrayed such a feeling of helplessness, loss and despair, I was relieved to read the last line. A poem of hope.

Wow this reminds me of a writing I read recently of how God waits on us to call him.
'In ancient Greek tragedies, there’s a common device called “Deus ex machina.” The plot builds up to a disastrous climax, and just when it looks as though all hope is lost, a god appears and saves the day. That’s an important piece of archetypal information. At the last moment, when things look the worst, God does tend to appear. Not because he has a sadistic sense of humor, waiting until we’re totally desperate before showing us his muscle. He takes so long because it’s not until then that we bother to think about Him. All this time, we thought we were waiting for Him. Little did we know, He was waiting for us.' Just thought I'd share. Beautifully expressed Kay.

Only we can realize how far we've gone away from God, then we'll know how much he wants us back.
I noticed something in we human being, we'll never call for help until we are pushed to the wall.
