The Curious Mind.

The Curious Mind.

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

...

"
Running helter-skelter in a nutshell,
Gobbling more than it could ever hold,
Busy roaming, seeking the best,
Always on its wings to the sky end.

Wherever it goes it prove itself,
Showing its ability to make thing manifest.
Could unveil mysteries and uncover the deep,
It eagerness takes it a million mile ahead.

The more it knows, the more it learns,
The more its curiosity gets intense.
Always digging deep, searching everywhere,
Questing for answers it needs to get.

The more it wanders, the more it grows,
The more it searches, the more it glows.
Age is never a barrier to its hungry soul,
Curious mind is ever always on the go.

The title is apt. The lines describe exactly the truly curious human mind.

my pleasure..
makes me think of my children when they were 2 yrs old ... not just curious .. fearless and bold ... not always to there own good ... so we kept them close ;) i think its a great idea .. off hand i can not think of a whole poem dedicated to curiosity .. especially lifting it up .. (curiosity did kill the cat you know) ;) i like the strength of the quatrains .. you might try for more of a rhythm in the flow of things ... your poem also brings to mind what our sciences would be without great unquenchable curiosity ... how dull the human condition without probing beyond what appear as limits .. strong fresh approach to the theme ... i like the quatrains .. needs some editing (due to language i presume) and could use a sense of rhythm .. :)

There are many things I love about your poem. I love how it's a celebration of being curious, a concept I can't remember ever reading in a poem. I love it when poets write about fresh unusual ideas. You have many complex things to say about the curious mind, but on the first read-thru, I did not catch all the depth. Such as: "ability to make things manifest" -- that's quite a huge & heavy concept . . . it jostles all kinds of ideas from my mind while using so few words to do it - which to me is the central quest of writing poetry. Being 63, many of the people I've known all my life have stopped being curious about life & they seem so damn old to me! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

What a great message, Kay. I love you idea, too, that age itself cannot impede the quest to fulfill the curious mind. Indeed, I’ve read that keeping the mind active can keep you sharp as you age.

I suppose it’s like anything, we can grow if we try to reach our capacity. I think the mind has a capacity so large we won’t ever reach the end of that potential. That’s a cool thing. There’s always room for me.

I enjoyed this.

We never stop learning. I find the more the mind travels, the more it learns, the greedier it gets. We are on a quest for answers, many of them we may never resolve. Enjoyed your lines Kay.

Life long learning I tell my kids Kay.
Really like the first line, a nod to Hawking perhaps, but so true.
We take in knowledge, see sights that alter us and hear and share opinions with each breath, and the mind processes and filters this into some form of sense, learning and judgement. If you think about it, life is a constant classroom, where we know there will be more exams to take along the way, measuring who we were with who we will be.
