Introverted Feelings.

Introverted Feelings.

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

Myself

"
Life kept in a silent temple,
Mind upset by loud cacophony,
Why this noise? why this argument?
I better walk away before dying.

Why is fear gripping me?
Why am I afraid of having friends?
Why is my mind so much aching?
Always wanting me in aloneness.

Why do I find peace in hikikomori?
Why is solitude my place of rest?
Why do I live so differently?
Loving to live in quietness.

Why am I so glossophobia?
Why is my speech mostly in pen?
Why do I hate being in life drama?
Only wanting my books and pen.

In imagination I asked myself,
Would it be I am an introvert?
But there in my world I go again,
Feeling glorious in fantasy.

This self description does indicate a tendency toward introversion. Actually, it may go farther than that. It appears the speaker has adopted a solitary lifestyle as the result of a tumultuous home situation. This seems to have caused an inner conflict, for though there is regret for not having friends, the fear of more pain is greater. One can only hope that careful but determined exploration can secure a more supportive network of friends.

Thank you for your thoughts, John.
I really appreciate them.
i understand this....there are times i only share my thoughts in poetry...bottle up otherwise...and really that might be introverted...but the writing itself when expressive, like your poetry is...that extroverted...
just in a quieter way...don't hear me talk...just read what i have written...it will tell enough.

Thank you, Jacob.
I really appreciate your thoughtful review.
Written with a sadness and frustration as the protagonist explains in this narrative poem their feelings of isolation as an introvert. Often poets have skewed personality traits but being introverted is no major flaw so long as one is not so extreme as to be a recluse. It is just as bad to be hedonistic and selfish and self gratified.
