Introverted Feelings.

Introverted Feelings.

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

Myself

"
Life kept in a silent temple,
Mind upset by loud cacophony,
Why this noise? why this argument?
I better walk away before dying.

Why is fear gripping me?
Why am I afraid of having friends?
Why is my mind so much aching?
Always wanting me in aloneness.

Why do I find peace in hikikomori?
Why is solitude my place of rest?
Why do I live so differently?
Loving to live in quietness.

Why am I so glossophobia?
Why is my speech mostly in pen?
Why do I hate being in life drama?
Only wanting my books and pen.

In imagination I asked myself,
Would it be I am an introvert?
But there in my world I go again,
Feeling glorious in fantasy.

I love learning new words: "hikikomori" & "glossophobia"! Your poem carries off questioning well. I've read a number of "questioning" poems, but after a while, I get tired of the repetitious nature of the line structure. The reason I did not have this response to your repeated questioning is becuz each question is very well-stated & distinct from the other questions. Sometimes such questioning is just the same question asked different ways. But you cover a lot of ground with your various questions. This is exactly like me. I live in a very "alone" way, in the wilderness, & I thrive this way. People think it's a bad thing, but sometimes we just need to go with the way we are & what makes us feel more comfortable in our own lives (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I think that people associate introvert with negativity. I don't feel that's so,I have been labeled introvert and enjoy getting away. However I also am highly capable of socializing if need be, that doesn't go without saying I'd rather not. Socializing is for me, stressful and unhealthy. We all need a little quiet alone time now and again to get lost in the world of our imaginations unconfined to the expectations of the crowd.
Nicely written "Self-Portrait"

I was a pleasure..
Like Charles Bukowski said, 'People empty me. I have to get away to refill.'
I feel you and this piece. There's a difference between being lonely and being alone, and once you find that solitude in your own self, hard to get away from that...
Nice reading this one.

Thank you, Dr. YumnaKay
And I'm still learning to know myself more.
Kay dear, you have captured inner doubts so well. I always tell my kids, emotions and or events do not define us. You get to decide that for yourself.
What's a little fear, but exlerraration in the making, just a giant rollercoaster ride.
But I will tell you this your emotions make a great backstory, a very nice piece.

Now I know I'm not alone in that.
Too much analysing of one's self can be exciting or dangerous.

Yes, you're right.
It depends on how much we understand ourselves.
For me the issue is this: 'Is life out there real or is life in here real?' The imagination has its own reality and how we react to the tangible world outside is all a matter of the mind anyway. So there is an inner life which can transcend the outer life - the glory of fantasy, as you aptly put it.

Thank you so much for your point of view, Jibey.
That's true.
Hello Kay, you are a soul who likes to express themselves differently. I can understand that. Each of us has to communicate in the method that suits us best. You are not shouting your feelings from the roof top, you are conveying them in pen, which is what writers do. If you feel that is introverted be assured that you are in good company. You expressed yourself ery clearly here in this fine poem.

Hi, Kay. I understand. I think a lot of writers and creative types feel things like this. And introversion is also common among us. That seems to be one of the drivers to write or seek out some other way of expression.

The need to express oneself is fundamentally human, but everyone has their own comfort level and area they excel in. You’re a writer, be proud. You’re sharing the depths of yourself with us here. That takes guts.

Your first line here is excellent poetry. You’ve encapsulated the feeling that you’re describing so well in those words.

Good work with this.
