Conditioned

Conditioned

A Poem by Kayris
"

Just because you're of different physicality doesn't mean you're of different culture.

"
The life of a tiger is considered instincts, but for some, not true
To put a cub in a litter of kittens,
The cub is conditoned like a kitten.

The Tiger Kitten was still treated differently
Over time, the kitten grew to sizes the others in the litter would never reach.
The rest were afraid of her.

She left one night.

The dangers of the jungle would have been nature to a jungle cat.
But she was raised as a house cat.
The leaves, giant cups spouting rain water all over the soft soil under her paws.
She wondered about how her siblings would react to so much water,
as they could never handle the smallest spray from a bottle,
where she wouldn't budge from buckets after tearing an entire couch apart.

But destroying couches was nothing compared to the confrontation with her instinctual being.
The peering of dark yellow eyes through the shadows caught her off guard, whiskered snout of a fellow tiger slowly pulling closer to her.

She hissed at a familiar face as the face she would only see in the water bowl,

Stared back at her with as much fear and curiosity.
