The irony of Black Friday

The irony of Black Friday

A Poem by Kaylie
"

I'm disgusted with the fact that people spend an entire day being "thankful" but then they kill each other for material things...

"
I'm thankful for my family,
I'm thankful for my dog,
At least that's what they say
The filthy, greedy hogs.

Thanksgiving is for giving thanks,
Loving what you have,
Yet the meaning's lost.

You break the sin of gluttony
You break the sin of greed
While people starve on the streets
Here you are, you feed.

Amounts of food
No man can consume
You eat until you're sick
To top it off you rest a while
Then stuff yourself again.

Once the day of thanks is done
The fun has yet to end
Lining up in the ice and cold
The fun has not begun!

Once the clock strikes midnight
The hooligans will rise
Trample, punch, and trip their neighbors
What, are you surprised?

Every year the day of thanks
Is followed by tragedy and death
But do they care? Of course they don't!
That TV was only $999!

Well done. Dark and witty. My kind of poetry. :)

Some good rhymes. Thanksgiving turned out to be a raw deal for the Native Americans and Christmas is more a celebration of capitalism's success and excess than it is the birth of the Christian savior but hey, it's all good in da hood
